Over this past year, with the extra time at home, there have been many times that I have felt like I have just stared and stared at the same spaces so many times that they have become dull and boring. One of these areas of my home has been the night stands in my master bedroom. Corey and I refreshed our master bedroom almost two years ago by upgrading our furniture with a set we purchased on Wayfair. We have loved it so much and still feel that it totally transformed our bedroom from drab to a serene space we love.
For the past five years my nightstand has been taken up mostly by baby monitors. Now that my kids are getting older, it was time to freshen up this space to make it more in line with the rest of our room. I’m excited to share how I went about updating this small space as well as the items that are always on my nightstand.
Thank you to Wayfair for sponsoring this post. As always, I only share brands where I personally shop and products that I truly love for my own home. Thank you for loving the brands that love this little blog so much.
Now, let’s move on to the items that you can find on my nightstand these days.
one. a pretty lamp
Over the past several years, I have gotten more comfortable with bolder options for lighting and feel that a beautiful, unique lamp can really make a statement in your space. For this project I decided to upgrade my bedside lamps. While I love the ones that we had, something lighter and more feminine was just what I needed to give our space a calm and serene vibe. I chose these gorgeous lamps from Wayfair. I think mercury glass is just so pretty at night making it the perfect choice for a bedroom. The little bit of gold is fun, feminine, and so on trend for right now. I love turning them on when I put the kids to bed so that when I come up for the night, my room feels calm and inviting.
two. florals
During the warmer months I love bringing flowers inside from the garden or picking something up at the farmer’s market or on a trip to Trader Joe’s. But, during the off season I rely on a pretty faux bouquet to give my nightstand a feminine touch. I just upgraded my nightstand arrangement to this pretty one but also really love this one. I like to have a couple faux arrangements that I move around the house to switch things up.
three. a good book.
I love to read and always have a book on my nightstand (and an on deck book, too.) I may only read a chapter or two a night these days but it really helps clear my mind before bed. While I enjoy non-fiction books, the reads you will find by my bed are almost always fiction. I always find that the best way to turn off my thoughts about the day, unfinished tasks, or anything that might be bothering me is to immerse myself in a great book. I am currently reading The Wife Upstairs. I am really enjoying it and I can’t wait to finish. My on-deck book is Where the Crawdads Sing and I am looking forward to diving into it soon.
four. jewelry dish
Do you sleep in your jewelry? I never do so I like having a little trinket dish by my bed to put my rings and earrings in at night. I love this little crystal one and also think this one is so pretty that I ended up ordering it for our guest room.
What’s the one thing missing from my nightstand? You guessed it – my cell phone and charger. I moved them across the room to my dresser last year and it has been the best thing I have ever done for my sleep. Once I crawl in to bed to read by the light of my new lamp cell phone time is over and you can catch me in the morning!
Let’s chat: What items are always on your nightstand? Do you sleep with your phone beside the bed or has it banished away like mine?
