Happy Monday, friends. How was your weekend?
Ours was nice but went way too fast as usual. Corey had to work on Saturday morning which had me thinking that Saturday must be Friday all day long. So it was a pretty rude awakening on Saturday evening when I realized that the weekend was half over already.
Sunday morning we celebrated Corey for Father’s Day. He requested a low-key day with a homemade breakfast and then a free pass to golf in the afternoon. We sure do love Daddy in our house – the one who will wear an Olaf shirt without complaint, tea party guest, monster hunter, and giver of endless piggy back rides.
When we were first married someone told me that your wedding day is the least in love with your husband you’ll ever be. This seemed so strange to me at the time but watching Corey become a father (twice) has made me understand exactly what they meant. I sure do love watching Corey with our two little ones.
Our summer project around the house has been our playroom. Since Corey travels most of the time for work these days he gave up his downstairs office and we put a smaller desk in our bonus room so that our kids could have a designated playroom. What a great dad he is – but girls, it has made all the difference in the way our home functions in this stage of life. I feel like I was struggling to get every day tasks done such as unloading the dishwasher, switching out the laundry, and prepping dinner because I needed to be able to monitor Madeline when she was playing upstairs. Having all her toys down stairs has made such a difference for me and it has really helped keep her from dragging toys out all over our house now that she has a whole designated room.
Speaking of toys, Madeline told me she wanted a big girl dollhouse the other day and it made my heart so happy. I have such fond memories of playing with the one my mom built for me as a little girl. Of course then I came across this article and it made my interior decorating-loving heart so happy.
We have another week of preschool camp on the agenda this week and are all really looking forward to a week of structure. What do you have planned for the week ahead?
It sounds like a great Father’s Day, and very similar to ours (although I hate when weekends feel shortened like that). At least you guys made the most of it! How exciting that Madeline wants a dollhouse. It’s one of, if not the MOST, used and played with toys in our house! After the girls go to bed, I miiiight set up the rooms how I like them. 😉 Haha. Have a great week, friend!
There’s nothing better than a relaxed and laid-back Father’s Day! Our daddy/husband was gone this year (again), but a day like that is usually exactly what he’d like! Reading that Madeline wants a dollhouse got me all giddy that I have a little girl now. I love my boys more than anything, but goodness…is there anything more exciting than playing dolls with little ladies? Cheers to a wonderful week!
Sounds like a lovely and relaxing father’s day! Such a cute photo!
