Happy Monday, friends! I decided at the last minute today to link up with The Blended Blog for her her Q+A series. This month to focus is on all things beauty, which seemed fun since boy oh boy has my beauty and self-care regimen changed in the last year!
1. Eyelash Curler Yes or No? Yes! Every single day! I use a lash serum and my lashes have gotten pretty long. Combined with a curler and a good, volumizing mascara my lashes have become one of my favorite features. This is the curler I use and I actually just purchased a brand new one last week in the gold and pink color.
2. Favorite Nail Shade? It depends on the time of year. My favorite for spring and summer is Strawberry Margarita by O.P.I. I go for more taupes, mauves, and grays during the winter. If I am doing my own nails I always, always, always use Essie’s Gel Couture because it lasts a week and doesn’t use a light or damage your nails and those shades are a little more limited.
3. Favorite Lipstick Shade? I wear Beautycounter’s sheer lipstick in Twig most days. Its a pretty neutral color and smells amazing. If I’m going out for dinner or drinks or have an event of some sort, I wear lip sense. I get mine here and my favorite shades are Bombshell, Kiss Me Katie, and Apple Cider and I layer them various ways depending on what the occasion is.
4. Blow Dry or Air Dry your hair? I always blow dry my hair. I have straight, fine hair and it just wouldn’t have any volume or lay very pretty if I were to let it air dry.
5. Artificial Nails: Yes or No? No! Every time I’ve worn them they have damaged my nails and I have seriously regretted it. If we are going on a beach vacation, I will do gel but otherwise I stick to a regular mani.
6. Foundation: Yes or No? Yes. I prefer a medium to full coverage and have tried so many. For every day I wear Beautycounter’s Tint Skin. I switched my It Cosmetics CC cream for this and have been very pleased. My shade for this time of year is Linen. For evenings out I wear Estee Lauder Double Wear or Lancome Teint Idole for a little more full coverage and love them both.
7. Hair Up of Hair Down? Down always except when I’m working out.
8. Bar Soap or Body Wash? Body wash. I use this one by Beautycounter. I used to use Dove until I started using the Think Dirty app before purchasing any personal care products. That has turned me into a crazy person with examining ingredients and now I’m super cautious with body wash and lotions since they go on my whole body.
9. Bath or Shower? I love a nice relaxing bath and probably take one once a week but I shower every day, sometimes twice a day depending on what time I workout.
10. Favorite Body Lotion? This one, again by Beautycounter. The citrus mimosa scent smells so good!
11. Do you wear perfume? I don’t wear it every day but when I do I wear Princess by Vera Wang. I got it as a gift when I was in college and still love the way it smells, even a decade later.
12. Do you shave your legs every day? Yes. It is super time consuming but I just cannot stand the prickly feeling if I don’t!
13. Favorite Lip Balm? I don’t really use a lip balm but I use this lip conditioner at night.
14. How old were you when you first started wearing makeup? I think I was 12 or 13 when I first started playing around with it and ugh, I was not good at it at all! I did the whole blue eye shadow thing and I really didn’t learn how to properly apply it or choose colors that flattered my skin tone until I was in high school. I’ll definitely make sure Madeline has more in-depth lessons! And I sure hope that blue eyeshadow trend doesn’t circle back around by the time she is interested in makeup.
What beauty products are you loving right now?
I really want Kiss Me Kate LipSense…I might have to take the plunge!! Why have I never heard of Beauty Counter. I totally am going to check it out now!! Glad to have found your blog today! Thanks for linking up with TBB!
Fake nails always look so nice but yes, they completely ruin your nails! 🙁 I definitely need to try that Essie nail polish. I hate having to re-do my nails every few days!
I have wanted to try beauty counter, but just did not know what products to use and I am weird in that I like to try before I buy.
Hi! Stopping by from the link up 🙂 Great post, love reading these! I tried a lash serum for 4 weeks and saw no difference at all plus when I put it on it stung my eyelids pretty bad. Perhaps I didn't use it long enough and/or used a bad one. lol
That Essie nail polish sounds great! I'm with ya on the blue eyeshadow…I hope that trend doesn't come back around when my little girl is ready for makeup, either! haha 🙂
