Sandy hits Hoboken

Hi lovelies! Corey, Riley, and I are ok. We are at Corey’s parents’ house, which is 30 minutes outside of the city. After I posted yesterday morning, the news compared Hoboken to New Orleans because of our flood potential and how much below sea level the city lies. Corey and I looked at each other and said, “Let’s go.” So we did.

We don’t know anything about our apartment. Our neighborhood is badly flooded and the city is completely inaccessible so I have no idea when we will be able to go home. There are power lines down in the flood waters, which are a mixture of sewage and water from the rain and river so there is a mandatory curfew preventing us from going home. Plus the only way to get to our apartment would be by boat.

I will update when I know more as well as when I have info on any relief efforts. Please keep the people of Hoboken in your thoughts as many live in basement and first floor apartments and will have no home to return to. Also, once all garages were full, residents were advised of streets to park their cars on that were above sea level yet all of these flooded.

We have no power here and lots of trees and limbs down but are fortunate that there is no flooding where we are staying. Yet no Internet either – I’m relying on my iPhone. Here are some pictures all via twitter of Hoboken.

I thought of you when I heard about all of the damage in Hoboken. I was glad to hear that your apartment is on a high floor so hopefully there won't be too much damage to your property. Happy to hear your family is safe!

I'm glad to hear that the three of you are okay and prayers that your apt is okay too! We don't have power still, but my office does, so I'm at the office for a bit this afternoon to get some work done and charge my electronics! Prayers that it's all okay!
