Coffee + Conversation

Happy Monday, friends. I hope it was a good weekend for you!

Madeline napped until almost five o’clock on Friday afternoon which is just unheard of for her. So we took advantage of the super long nap to head out to our neighborhood pool for the evening and push a late bedtime. Every Friday the rec club in our neighborhood has live music and dinner. Sometimes they order in pizza or wings but this Friday everyone cooked a dish so we had lots of barbecue, ribs, pulled chicken, and all the sides and desserts. We had a great turnout of around one hundred people and it was lots of fun, especially since Madeline was well rested and could really enjoy a swim and the music.

On Saturday, we went to breakfast and then spent the day at home. It has been so hot here lately that aside from the pool or the splash pad it’s hard to enjoy any time outside. Corey and I went out for dinner on Saturday evening for a date night and Madeline stayed with one of her favorite baby sitters.

Then yesterday, Madeline and Corey went to the golf club to putt while I worked out and we worked on a few projects around the house before taking Madeline out to celebrate National Ice Cream Day. For dinner, we tried this recipe for dinner for the first time and it was delicious.

We contemplated going to Nordstrom to check out the sale in person but I just haven’t felt up to dealing with the crowd this year. I shopped it online on Thursday morning and got a few great things that I am excited about but I have to say that my impression from shopping online was that it wasn’t as good as it had been in year’s past. I just feel like I’ve gotten some really great pieces in past years. This year there were a ton of great basics like cardigans and tees but I felt like I needed very few of them.

I did order the barefoot dreams cardigan and it arrived the next day. I’d heard a lot of great things and I have to say it did not disappoint. This sweater is so soft and hits just below the bum so I can wear it with tees and leggings, which is my favorite. I also got a really cute pair of Freshly Picked moccasins for baby boy, a pair of cropped Zella leggings to workout in, and a couple tees. The Zella crops are my favorite for wearing to workout and you just can’t beat the sale price. I love the regular live-ins for every day wear in the fall and winter but the high-waisted ones are not my personal favorite so I was a little bummed that they were the only fit they had in the sale in the solid black.

Aside from my Nordstrom shopping I actually caught a few other great sales over the weekend for preschool clothes for Madeline and a couple pieces for baby boy too at Old Navy and Carters. I also got her the cutest shoes from Target. Little pink stars show up all over them when you go outside and the tongue is rainbow colored. They’re adorable and were only $10.

This week my big project is to tackle the closet in the nursery. I’ll be sharing a few other fun projects I’ve been up to to prepare for baby boy’s arrival this fall, too. What is on your agenda for the week ahead?

I just cannot do the sale. I never have and just never find stuff that I just need. Those shoes are too cute. Love them. I would die for E to take a long nap once, but I fear is napping is going away soon as its a struggle on the weekends for us now. Glad you got in some me time.

Those look like some great finds. Now you have me looking at the Nordstrom sale! It sounds like a fun weekend and thanks for sharing that recipe too! It might be dinner tonight!

That is so cool that your neighborhood pool does that — and yay for super long naps!

Loved reading what you got from the sale! I'm not a cardholder, so I'll be shopping on Friday. You may have just pushed me over the edge to get that cozy cardigan. Ahh… I never spend that much on clothes usually but I've wanted it forever and I know I'd wear it a ton!
