Happy Monday, friends. Its a beautiful, sunny day in Charlotte at last after weeks of rain. The weather was even nice most of the weekend so we enjoyed spending lots of time outside.
On Friday, Madeline and I headed to barre first thing in the morning and then promptly enjoyed a homemade strawberry-iced donut with sprinkles in honor of National Donut Day. Life is about balance, after all.
When we got home Madeline insisted on having a picnic outside. I just love how two year olds think because tossing the exact same lunch on a plate to eat outside on a blanket instead of inside made it a totally different and special experience.
Corey and I went out for a date night and enjoyed tacos and margaritas (for him) at RuRu’s.
On Saturday we each worked out and then headed to our neighborhood pool for the rescheduled Memorial Day party and cookout. It stormed all day long last Monday but the weather couldn’t have been nicer this weekend. Madeline just upgraded to a puddle jumper this year so she is loving the freedom of being able to float without being held and learning to kick her feet to get herself around the pool.
We stayed until nap time then came home, showered, and Madeline took a nap while Corey and I got a few things done and relaxed for a bit. Then, in late afternoon we went out for a quick dinner before her bed time.
We have started watching Suits along with the rest of the world who is obsessed with Meghan Markle so we enjoyed a couple episodes out on the porch after Madeline was asleep.
Yesterday morning I headed to barre and Corey took Madeline on his run with him. Then, we played outside the rest of the day.
I prepped this salad that I shared last year for dinner last night. We enjoyed it with a baked potato and steak. If you aren’t a lover of kale, I highly suggest you give it a try because it will be the recipe that changes your mind!
We have a relaxed week this week before heading out of town this weekend for a wedding.
I wanted to end with a big THANK YOU to everyone for your sweet comments on Friday’s post. We are so excited! Also, the comment notification emails for my blog are not working so I cannot respond like usual but I did get to see them on the post and appreciate the well wishes so much. Hopefully that little glitch will be fixed soon!
That salad looks delicious! Madeline is so cute with her donut, and my boys adore picnics, too! It's my favorite thing to do when the weather here is nice (so basically in October-November and April-May, ha!). My blog comments aren't working, either; so annoying! Hope y'all enjoy your sunny day!
Happy Monday!I'm having the very same glitch with my blog comments! I hope they fix it soon.Looks like you had a great weekend. I especially loved the little picnic picture. Such special memories! And hey anything to spice things up. Kristen // http://www.pugsandpearls.com
I love Suits! Have watched since the beginning so I cannot wait to see what you think!
We are obsessed! Made it through season 1 last night!
Your week-end sounds great! I wish they had Barre classes here – I loved ballet as a kid and it gives you such amazing strength and posture – could do with a bit of that! Madelaine's doughnut and picnic photos are so cute – I am totally with you on the balance thing!
Thank you! I am a big fan of barre. There are a couple online classes you might have access to at home – I loved doing Barre 3 and the Bar Method online when Madeline was smaller and we couldn’t get out for a class.
