It has been a busy few weeks in the W household and I’ve honestly been down right exhausted hence my mini hiatus. After a low-key weekend and ten (!!) hours of sleep last night, I’m feeling much more like myself today and ready for the week ahead.
Let’s chat a little about what’s been going on around these parts, shall we. Madeline went back to preschool from spring break last week and made it through the week in her little Peppa Pig big-girl undies with no accidents. All the praise hands because potty training was a lot of work.
On Wednesday we had plans for Madeline to eat dinner and play with one of her sweet little friends and then the mamas were heading out for a little girls’ night while the babies slept. Just as we were about to leave, I opened the front door to grab an Amazon package off the porch. Well, there is a bird’s nest in my front door wreath and the very aggressive mama bird charged me when I opened the door – right into my house. Luckily, I safely got her out again but if there ever was a day I needed a big margarita, that was it. I was really wishing my husband wasn’t traveling for work then because that really does seem like a man’s job, doesn’t it? I will not be opening my front for the next six weeks until those baby birds have hatched and flown away.
Speaking of, I think I’ll be needing a new front door wreath. How cute are these:
Over the weekend, we did some yard work. Over the last year we have worked really hard to completely re-do our landscaping. It had some great features but everything was just too overgrown and lots of maintenance so last year we removed about 80% of it and let what we kept grow back in. So, I planted our spring planters on Thursday while Madeline was at preschool and then Corey and I planted some azaleas in our front yard and a limelight hydrangea in our back yard. I love those so much! This week I’m planning to plant a few peonies (my favorite!) and we are prepping a space next to our new screened-in porch for a little grilling patio.
Madeline loved all the outside time and enjoyed playing in her sandbox and water table for the first time this year.
It was a really nice weekend where we felt like we accomplished a lot. Last night I was so exhausted from a busy couple weeks (and all that digging and planting, too, I’m sure) so I was in bed before nine o’clock and didn’t wake up this morning until I heard Madeline talking in her crib at seven. I slept right through my alarm but I’m feeling so much better today and ready for the week with our sweet girl!
Sounds like a good relaxing weekend. And man oh man about the bird. That would scare the crud out of me.
I was just thinking that I need a new spring wreath, and these are so pretty! I usually make my own, but I haven't been feeling anywhere near motivated lately to be crafty. Ha! So fun that you guys are working so hard on your landscaping!
Congratulations on the potty training! That is a huge milestone behind you! It sounds like you have been super busy, but you’re getting lots done!
Yay for potty training! I'm SO ready for Knox to be potty trained! Seriously, WHY do all these things with the house/kids/crazy things happen when husband's are traveling?! It's insanity to me! Ha! I love azaleas!
