Coffee + Conversation

Happy Monday! I am sitting having my Monday morning coffee with a side of Daniel Tiger this morning. If we were having coffee today, instead, I would have lots to recap and share from our busy week last week.

Madeline turned two last Saturday. We started the day with a pancake breakfast out then came home and I got ready for her party. It was a great time with all of her best little friends and I’ll recap it a little more later in the week.

Last Sunday we headed to Asheville to the Grove Park Inn for a couple of days of relaxation. I have been to Asheville many times but never stayed here. The property was just gorgeous and the spa was incredible.

It was a nice few days of sleeping in later than 7 am, drinking wine, and spending time with just the two of us. We try to go away somewhere just the two of us about once a quarter for a couple nights and I really believe this is one of the best things we do for our marriage.

Corey accepted a new position with a different firm so he had two weeks off in between. It was so helpful to have an extra set of hands at home in the week leading up to Madeline’s party and was great to have this chance to sneak away for a few days just the two of us before his travel begins again. Today is his first day of work at his new firm and he is already on his first day of two weeks of travel. I’m super proud of him, though, and excited for his next adventure.

Madeline’s Nonnie came to stay with her while we were gone and life continued pretty much as usual for her until we got home on Wednesday. Then, we had a few busy days of errands picking up some things Corey needed for his new position and enjoying some time outside with absolutely gorgeous weather.

We broke in our new porch over a couple of Radom 70-degree February days. Everything is confused and in bloom right now thinking it is spring. We’ve really enjoyed a week of taking things slow and spending quality time together. Back to real life, today, though!

Happy Monday!

So nice you got to get away together just you two. I am looking forward to the days when we can sneak off for a vacation and leave the little guy with the grandparents. How old was Madeline when you first left her overnight? He's only 7 months and I still nurse him to sleep at night and haven't tried having anyone (even dad) put him down yet…but maybe probably should work on that oops.

I’m so glad y’all got to get away! That’s so hard to do but it’s so worth it. And congrats to C on the new job!

I went to the Grove Park Inn for the first time this last summer and it's gorgeous! We didn't get to do the spa since it was a last minute thing, but I definitely enjoyed the grounds and views. I just adore Asheville.
