Coffee + Conversation

Who needs an extra large cup of coffee this morning after staying up too late to watch the Super Bowl last night? Or better yet – who made it through to watch This is Us? No spoilers welcome around here, please, because yours truly did not stay up that late and I have a date to watch it on DVR with my husband tonight.

I can’t thank you all enough for your kind words on Friday’s post about my little hiatus from blogging and my rebrand. You all really know how to make a girl feel good. Just a bit of house keeping – if you’re new around here or if you write a blog that isn’t listed in your Google profile, I’d love to read along. Just leave your URL in the comments so that I can find you.

We had one of those weekends that was jam packed full of fun. I don’t feel like I got any rest but I love that it creeped by super slowly. Those are the best. It started off on a super high note when Corey called to say that he’d rearranged a meeting and was going to be able to come home a day early from his travels. He ended up having a busy morning in the office but was able to come home late in the afternoon and take Madeline and I out for a little dinner date. This time of year can be really busy in my husband’s job so it was a nice little surprise to get the extra time together when we originally thought he wouldn’t be getting home until late Friday evening this week.

On Saturday morning one of Madeline’s best little toddler buddies celebrated his birthday. It was such a precious party and I’d like to report that Madeline was on her very best behavior but that was not the case because she had a complete meltdown when her little friend started opening his presents and she realized none of them were for her. Right now she refers to herself exclusively as “Madeline Bear” so she threw the biggest toddler tantrum screaming “Madeline Bear open!” Girlfriend had to have a little time out and you all, her sweet little friend brought her one of his brand new dinosaurs and gave her a hug to cheer her up. He’s a keeper.

We recently started a supper club with two other couples and Saturday night was “Italian night.” I was charged with bringing an appetizer and dessert so I picked up cannoli’s from Fresh Market. We are pretty big cannoli snobs from our time in Hoboken and I would say Fresh Market’s rival the best of the best. Then, I put together this charcuterie plate for the appetizer. I posted a picture of it on Instagram and immediately got a request to bring one to Bunco tonight so I will be making it again. I swear by Aldi and Trader Joe’s for meats and cheeses.

The wine was flowing and supper club was a fun time to be had by all.

Yesterday, Madeline and I both woke up super congested. Too much partying the day before? It was a good day for pancakes for breakfast (for her) and watching Frozen in bed. Madeline is currently obsessed with Elsa from Frozen. She recently got this Elsa doll and carries her around everywhere and I can judge the distance from my house to anywhere else by how many renditions of “Let it Go” it is away.

I co-hosted my seasonal trunk for Shrimp and Grits Kids yesterday with a neighbor during nap time and got so many adorable spring clothes for Madeline. This cherry set might be my favorite. Now, I’m officially ready for spring weather, please. Our code is 70024 if you want to shop for your own little one.

As I was scrolling through Facebook last night I saw that there was a big sale on this curling wand (also here) I keep seeing people rave about so I ordered one to try out with a gift card I got for Christmas. I’ve had this one on my wish list forever but I don’t even want to imagine Corey’s reaction if I were to purchase a $300 curling iron!

This week I am looking forward to a much more relaxed week than last week and some party prep as I prepare for Madeline’s second birthday in less than two weeks.

How was your weekend?

Oh man, "This is Us" was for sure a tearjerker! That's amazing that your husband got to come home a day early! Mine travels monthly for business and I would *love* for him to be able to come home a day early one time. 🙂

What a fun weekend! I love that new cherry outfit for Madeline! I hear you on the toddler meltdowns. It's tough for them as they navigate all these new social situations! Also, I'm not sure if my blog appears on my profile, but I'd love if you follow along!https://happinessinacircularmotion.blogspot.com/

What a cute outfit. E is not a girly girl so I never get to order cute stuff for her.
