Happy Monday, friends. I’m happy to say the weekend was great around here and I feel rejuvenated. Last week was a long one and by Friday afternoon I didn’t know how I would make it until bedtime. I’m pretty used to Corey traveling every other week and Madeline and I have our own routine when he is gone but for some reason last week just drug on and on so I was super happy when the weekend finally arrived.
Corey didn’t get home from his work trip until just as I was putting Madeline down to sleep on Friday. He took over to read her bedtime story and I promptly poured a glass of wine. Then, we enjoyed some takeout Thai stir fry (no rice because #goals) and watched The Girl on the Train. If you were like us and have read the book but wanted to see the movie, my advice would be to spend your time on something else. That is all.
On Saturday morning, I headed to Cafe Monte for a girls’ brunch, enjoyed my favorite eggs benedict on a croissant and a mimosa, and then we went to see 50 Shades Darker. If you’re like me and read the book and were curious about the movie, I would definitely recommend this one. It was a little less racy than the first one.
Meanwhile, Corey stayed home and prepped for Madeline’s first birthday this week.
For dinner, we went out after bedtime and enjoyed some tacos and a glass of sangria. Maybe we should’ve done a bigger date night since we realized while we were out that I have to work tonight and then Corey has a dinner meeting tomorrow so now real Valentine’s celebrations out for us.
On Sunday, we started our day with Madeline’s one year photo shoot, including the biggest, most expensive balloon ever and this teeny tiny cake. Madeline had a great time and there was eventually cake everywhere. I can’t wait to share a few of her photos next week.
Her birthday is Friday and I have a big treat for you. I’m finally going to share her birth story and newborn photos. One year later. Happy Monday!
Can't believe she's already going to be one! She will love her new cozy coupe!
Oh my goodness with that adorable photoshoot! So precious!! And I always opt for eggs benedict also. Yum!
That birthday cake shoot is adorable, and eggs benedict on a croissant sounds amazing!!Meg, Borrowed Heaven
