For Mother’s Day, we hosted my mom and dad for dinner at our house. My mom really wanted a laid back evening and she hadn’t seen any of the recent updates we have done at our new house. My parents are just wonderful and my mom works so very hard in her career as a nurse, running a home, being the other half to my dad, and taking care of my grandmother, who is 94. She so deserved an evening in her honor so we tried to do just that.
When my parents arrived, we started with a cheese tray, bruschetta, and wine outside on our patio. Corey and I are just in love with our patio but my parents had not seen it since it was just put in last month (big reveal coming soon eventually). It is now our favorite place to relax after work and have coffee on Saturday mornings.
For dinner, I made a salad and we enjoyed rosemary and garlic roasted potatoes, balsamic green beans with mushrooms, and grilled steak. I set the table with our casual stoneware and my newest World Market napkins. Our dining room is still very much a work in progress – our correct side chairs are here but we still haven’t chosen upholstered end chairs yet.
The peony centerpiece was a gift from one of my sweet students for Teacher’s Appreciation Week last week. Aren’t they gorgeous? I am determined to plant peonies in our front yard now.
I am so appreciative of my mom and thankful of all the lessons she has taught me and sacrifices she has made for me. She is the strongest woman I know. Happy Mother’s Day to my mom and all the other moms out there reading today.
It's all gorgeous, especially those flowers!
Love the pretty set up and I love your mom's dress she chose at your wedding!
Everything looks so beautiful! I love your peonies for your centerpiece. Those are my favorite flowers. You did a fabulous job with dinner and the appetizers outside sound so yummy! Your mom sounds like an amazing lady!
