You may have noticed I disappeared after Thanksgiving. If you have any teacher friends, I’m sure they’ll agree that this time of the year is just totally completely crazy. Add on the whole buying a house and moving just three days before we leave to go on vacation and planning a New Year’s Eve party for right after we get back….well you get the idea!
Since the last time I posted, Corey and I hosted Thanksgiving in our apartment. We made all kinds of delciousness. I tried a new macaroni and cheese recipe that I am now obsessed with. It will be my go-to any time I make this – which luckily is only a couple times a year since it has a ton of heavy cream and cheese.
The turkey was also successful but grossed me out no less than ten times. Luckily my mom came over to help me with this. I wanted turkey lessons so I could make a turkey like the one I always grew up with. I am not so sure I want to be responsible for the turkey anymore, though. It was delicious but the whole preparing it process was just no fun.
My sweet grandmother, who is about to turn 94, was in attendance. Three generations.
After we finished hosting for Thanksgiving dinner, we listed our living room furniture on Craigslist and were able to sell it. This is great since we’d already purchased new furniture but also terrible in that we have no couch. What a sad, sad living room. I’ll be watching TV in bed until further notice.
Our house is really coming together. Our final walk through is today and then we close next Monday. Here’s a couple pictures from last week when we stopped by to meet with a company about building our patio.
I love this little hallway.
The tile fiasco has been fixed! Above are the tiles we chose. Loving this much better.
We have appliances! Right now our apartment refrigerator is miniature. It is the smallest refrigerator I have every seen. I cannot even tell you how excited I am to start using this one.
Last but not leave, the winner of my $50 Blue Nile jewelry giftcard giveaway was Stafanie of the House Spouse. Thank you to all who participated!
Oh yay! I'm so excited. Thank you! :):)
Yay! Can't wait for you to move in and enjoy your new space!
It's getting so close! How fun and exciting to think about all your new decorating to be done!
That Mac and cheese looks amazing! I need that recipe!agirlandhersparkles.blogspot.com
Love the look of the new place! Can't wait to see all your pictures as you move in!
YUM to the mac and cheese! I also made green bean casserole completely from scratch this year and am no longer making it the old way. It was a tad bit more tedious but so good! It's my goal to make a turkey some time too. I'm sure I won't love the process (especially the first time) but I really want to learn. However all our parents still host Thanksgiving so I have no need.Congrats on almost closing!!! 🙂
The house is beautiful! I can't wait to buy – but gotta wait til the Army lets us stay in one place long enough :)- Catherine
