2013 has been a year for the books. I think it might have even been my favorite year yet. Corey and I are hosting a New Year’s Eve party tonight in our new home to celebrate the past year and welcome the next. 2014 has big shoes to fill.
January
Corey and I rang in the new year with dinner at our favorite Cuban restaurant and drinks with friends.
February
Corey and I celebrated Valentine’s Day with dinner at The Dining Room at Anthony David’s, which had been on our Hoboken restaurant list for a long time.
We started to discuss moving away from the city to somewhere a little more suburban. At the time we thought it would be Morristown, New Jersey.
March
I visited the Museum of Natural History. It was on my NYC bucket list for some time and was totally amazing.
Riley turned three years old.
April
I opened my Teachers Pay Teachers store, which has been a great creative outlet for me – and also provided me with a little extra money to spend on shoes.
Corey and I escaped the cold New Jersey weather to visit his parents in Naples, Florida.
May
Corey was offered a new job in Charlotte and he decided to accept it. We said good by to some dear friends in Hoboken and our first home together.
I said goodbye to my sweet third graders and with a heavy heart resigned my position for the coming year.
June
We moved to Charlotte. Riley was not so sure about that whole idea at first.
I was offered a new job to teach 5th grade gifted and talented.
I attended my first Charlotte Social blogger meet-up at NoDa Brewery.
July
We hosted a group of friends in our new apartment for the 4th of July and spent some time out on the boat.
I attended the first annual Charlotte Blogger Cookout at Classic Annie’s home and met some wonderful ladies in person.
We experienced our first Restaurant Week in Charlotte.
We decided to purchase our new home!
August
Corey and I celebrated our first anniversary. I can’t believe we’ve been married over a year!
I started my new job.
September
We spent many weekends watching Clemson football with friends.
October
Life with Elizabeth became A Carolina Mrs.
We headed to Greenville for Fall for Greenville’s food festival and a fun weekend with friends.
Corey’s mom and I headed to our builder’s design center to choose all the finishings for our new home.
We celebrated Corey’s 29th birthday.
November
We celebrated my 26th birthday and Corey surprised me with the Burberry jacket I’ve been dying for for almost three winters.
He also sent me flowers at school to make my birthday a little extra special.
We hosted our first Thanksgiving.
December
I attended what felt like a million Christmas parties (including the Charlotte Social ornament exchange) and was so thankful for time spent with friends.
We closed on our new home!
And then immediately traveled to New Jersey for Christmas.
And then back to Charlotte again to prepare to host a New Year’s Eve party tonight.
I can’t wait to see what 2014 holds. Happy New Year’s, friends!
