Happy Monday, friends! What a crazy and busy week the last week has been – I’ve been totally neglecting my blog. I hope many of you are off today for President’s Day and are just crawling out of bed to your morning lattes about now. Unfortunately, my district is making up one of the six days we missed because of Hurricane Sandy today. This is a little disappointing to me as I love a holiday when I can sleep until 8 and then watch Kelly and Michael in my pajamas.
How was Valentine’s Day where you are? I have way too many chocolates in my desk drawer at work and one of my sweet kiddos brought me this cookie.
Our class theme is owls (which is a throwback to my Kappa days) and my favorite color is pink so this was pretty much the perfect Valentine’s cookie for me. It is so precious how attentive my kiddos are.
Speaking of Valentine’s Day, Corey and I celebrated on both Thursday and Friday. Doing anything big after work can be difficult, which makes me feel incredibly old. But when you wake up at 5:00 to sit in traffic on the New Jersey turnpike for an hour, it is necessary to be in bed before 11. So on Thursday, we ordered dinner in and watched a movie at home. Corey brought me these:
And we had chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. These have always been a favorite of mine but even more so since the weekend we got engaged, when chocolate covered strawberries and champagne were waiting on us at check-in.
On Friday, we went to a quick happy hour with some friends and then headed to The Dining Room at Anthony David’s in Hoboken. This is a restaurant that has been on our list to try since about the time we moved a year and a half ago. It has a quaint romantic ambiance and was absolutely delicious. Corey and I shared a build your own antipasti plate for an appetizer. He had the lamb bolognese special and I had rock shrimp and pea risotto for our main courses and we had an out of this world ice box cake for dessert. I highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you’re traveling to the area.
For the week of Valentine’s Day, I wore Essie’s Cascade Cool. I thought this was a perfect Valentine’s color and I was happy to have a bright pink back on my nails. I’m over dark winter colors.
Then, on Saturday, I switched it up to Essie’s Big Spender. I almost never do reds but I am loving this color – I guess because it reminds me of a glass of Pinot Noir. 😉
I have to brag on my sweet husband for the meal he made on Saturday. We’d had kind of a busy day with the gym in the morning followed by lots of errands so we made dinner at home and shared a bottle of wine. Corey cooked and he made mashed potatoes and pork chops with red cherry peppers. This was out of this world. I asked if he wanted to do a blog tutorial of the recipe, but unfortunately he passed – ha! Maybe next time. 😉
I hope your week is getting off to a great start. Have a great Monday, lovelies! xo
Oh that pork sounds good! So sweet he made dinner. I just made Ryan BUY dinner so neither of us had to cook or do dishes. LolLove the owl cookie! So cute!!
