Hi there, pretty girls! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and fourth. Here’s a little recap of what I’ve been up to lately. Before I left for South Carolina, Corey and I went out to a yummy Italian dinner in the city. I wore this dress, from a boutique in Greenville, SC. I am loving coral this season, which we will discuss very soon.
In true Italian fashion, our meal began with a primi of pasta. This was a fig ravioli topped with a mushroom cream sauce. It was delicious and so unique.
Corey and I both chose the herb roasted chicken stuffed with prosciutto as our secondi. It was a perfect choice. For some reason, my mind is drawing a blank on the name of the restaurant. I’ll have to edit later, but it reminded me a lot of the restaurants I ate at while I was in Italy. It was very authentically decorated and had a precious outdoor garden, where we ate.
Our fourth of July was so much fun. It was a very relaxing day shared with some great friends. We’d hoped to cookout but Corey and I are the only of our friends who live in a building with a grill and all of our grills were reserved before six in the morning. Sneaky, sneaky neighbors! We sat outside at a local bar and let the restaurant do the cooking while we relaxed. Before we knew it, we’d been there for hours. Time flies when you’re spending time with great people. Then, we headed to Charitos, our favorite Mexican restaurant, for dinner before walking out to the pier to watch the Macy’s fireworks show. This was a special July 4th for me because the past two years I’ve been traveling on the fourth. The airports were almost empty and last year I ate mini burgers by myself at the airport Ruby Tuesday. It was so nice to share this holiday with Corey and my friends. And of course, we had the best seats for the fireworks show.
I’ve always wanted to see the Macy’s fireworks show. One of the things on my “New York bucketlist” complete.
The next morning, I woke up bright and early and headed to the DMV to get my New Jersey license. It broke my heart a little when I had to turn in my South Carolina license, which I’d hoped I’d secretly be able to keep forever. You have to do what you have to do though, in order to keep your car insurance.
Speaking of car insurance, I’ve been on my parents’ insurance while I was in graduate school. I had to get my own recently since I finished my master’s and boy is that expensive. This is definitely one of those things I don’t like about being an adult!!!
Over the weekend, we headed to Corey’s hometown to visit with a friend. We relaxed by the pool and Riley explored the grassy backyard off his leash. He was so excited and even did a little swimming. I’m craving our own backyard so he can play anytime he wants.
This week, I’m working on some classroom stuff and trying to get some things checked off of our wedding to-do list.
Love the dress, and you're looking great!!I am going to be so sad when I have to give up my Kansas DL. My Dad is still paying for my car insurance, but only liability since I have an old car, so I'm going to be feeling you soon when I get my new car and have to start paying for my insurance. I'm still trying to convince my Dad to buy me my tags so I can have a Kansas license plate and not a Missouri one. 😉
Sounds like a great fourth celebration! It's so much fun to see the Macy's show in real life. I grew up seeing some of it on TV, but I got to go see it live a couple years ago. I'm also loving coral this season, and I crave our own backyard too where Louie can run!
Love the dress and congrats on officially becoming a New Jersey-ian!
sounds like a great weekend! you look much better in your license picture than I do!
I'm going to get my new license today too!! Not looking forward to the long line and potentially awful picture haha.
Wow, I bet this month flies by.
I've always wanted to see the Macy's fireworks show! The DC fireworks are on my list before NYC but I hope to see both someday!
