Bridal Talk Tuesday – the Honeymoon

Life with Elizabeth

Happy Bridal Talk Tuesday, lovelies!

I realized that ages ago I mentioned we’d narrowed down our honeymoon to two possible destinations – St. Lucia and Hawaii. While I really like how St. Lucia has adults-only and all inclusive options, August is not exactly prime time to visit. And there isn’t really anything we can do about when we’re taking our honeymoon. (Clearly we cannot take our honeymoon in May or June when St. Lucia weather is nice.)

We’ve never heard anyone say they had a negative experience in Hawaii. And I’ve always wanted to go. Corey has always wanted to go. The only downfall was the flight – it is so long. And who wants to go to work after being on a plane for 14 hours?

After much contemplation, we decided that’s not a deal breaker. We’ll just drink a glass of wine (or four as I did on my flight to Italy) and take a nap. Corey and I will be honeymooning in Hawaii!

We’ll be spending the first half of our trip on O’ahu. We’ll arrive mid-day then drive to Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore. This is the resort from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, if you’ve seen it. I am super excited about this because we’ll have our own private beachfront cottage and this resort is supposed to be very natural and “true Hawaii.”

We’ll spend four days at Turtle Bay then we’ll head to Waikiki. We’ll spend a day sightseeing or on the beach, stay a night, then we plan to visit Pearl Harbor before heading to Maui in the late afternoon.

We will spend five days in Maui at the Hyatt Regency in Lahaina. We’d originally planned to splurge and stay at the Four Seasons in Wailea. Corey and I enjoy nightlife so we ultimately decided we’d rather be in Lahaina. We also decided it would be best to save a little money on the hotel and spend it on excursions and things we’d like to do around the island. The Hyatt has great reviews and they have warm weather penguins in their lobby, which I’m pretty excited about.

Who has been to O’ahu and Maui? What are some things that we should do while we are there?

That is why getting some great ideas is so important. With a little help and some creative thinking you will be able to still have a fantastic honeymoon even with little money to spend.https://www.pixelicious.ca/
