Happy Monday ladies! I hope you all enjoyed a fabulous new year and are enjoying one last day off work like Corey and I are today. I actually thought I had to go back to work today so it was like Christmas came twice when I found out I had an extra day off today. I have lots to catch up on and need to get the Christmas decorations down and packed up.
On Friday, we had dinner with the external wholesaler that Corey works with and his new fiance. This is the person who has the same sales territory and works directly over Corey. We enjoyed dinner at Abe and Arthur’s in the city and I think it might tie for my favorite steakhouse yet. And the desserts were out of this world. We ordered several for the table and my favorite was the cookies and cream suffle. Seriously amazing – I wish it had been an occasion where it was appropriate to take a photo to share with y’all. I wore my new French Connection dress.
Corey and I started New Year’s Eve with a long walk around Hoboken and a healthy lunch then later in the evening we headed into the city and had dinner at Chez Jacqueline in Greenwich Village. Chez Jacqueline is a French restaurant with the cutest atmosphere and delicious food. We shared a caramelized onion tart (if you ever go, you must get this!) and goat cheese croquettes as appetizers. Then I ordered roast chicken with zucchini and squash cooked in a white wine sauce and Corey ordered a hangersteak with green peppercorn sauce. Of course, we had to try dessert and cappuccinos.
After dinner, Corey and I took a long walk to his coworker’s apartment in Gramercy Park, where she and her fiance were hosting a New Years Eve party. Several other couples we know were also there and she had a spread of yummy snacks waiting for us – and lots of wine and champagne. We stayed out way too late (4:30 a.m. to be exact) and took a way too expensive cab ride home to avoid the crowded trains. I have to say this was my favorite New Years Eve yet. We celebrated with lots of fun friends, shared lots of drinks, and even more laughs. I was also really excited at midnight to start 2012. I feel like I’m exactly where I want to be and I am so so excited that Corey and I are getting married this year!
