Review: Pumpkin Spice K-Cup

When I first mentioned I’d hunted down the Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice k-cup, I received a couple emails asking me to share my thoughts about it. I’m a pumpkin spice latte lover, but at over $4.00 for each one, I will not let myself buy one every day. But, I really do look forward to pumpkin flavored coffee year-round.

Enter: the Pumpkin Spice K-cup from Green Mountain

Other brands also have Pumpkin Spice flavored k-cups but Green Mountain had the best reviews. Available at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Target, Amazon, etc.

Pros:
This is so convenient. I have a cup of pumpkin spice flavored coffee in under a minute. You can taste both the pumpkin flavor and the fall spice. I ordered a box of 18 k-cups and paid $11.99. They even shipped for free from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. At that price, I can have my pumpkin spice fix daily and don’t have to feel bad about it.

Cons:
The k-cup is more coffee whereas the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks is a latte. It is foamier and creamier and much more of a treat. (Also more calories!) The k-cup definitely does not have the creamy taste of a PSL from Starbucks. I add vanilla cream to mine so that it isn’t too bold.

The Bottom Line:
I’ll still treat myself to a PSL every now and then. Probably once every week or two. I’ll be stocking up on Green Mountain’s Pumpkin Spice K-Cup too, though. They’re limited edition and I’m really pleased with the flavor. At fewer calories and a fraction of the cost, I like being able to enjoy pumpkin spice flavor daily without having to feel guilty. A whole box of k-cups is the price of two grande PSL’s at Starbucks or three talls. I’ll still visit Starbucks as nothing can quite top a PSL but the k-cup is great for those trying to be a little frugal or trying to shed a few pounds pre-wedding (like me.)

And with the money I save this fall, maybe I can buy:

Yummy! I am going to pick up a box at Bed Bath & Beyond with my 20% off coupon!I've been using the Coffeemate Pumpkin Spice creamer and it's yummy although I couldn't agree more … it doesn't hold a candle to a PSL. 🙂

CoffeeForLess is a good place to buy K-cups, but I'm not sure if they have the pumpkin flavored ones. Those sound quite tasty!
