Happy Tuesday girls!
Corey and I are in the Outerbanks with friends for the next several days. (Sans Internet! Oh my!) Bridal Talk Tuesday will be a little different and much abbreviated today.
Yesterday before we left we met with Cortenay, our wedding planner and a representative of a very well known DJ company. We’ve also been discussing options for wedding bands. I have to say I was very impressed with the DJ. They receive a year of training with the company before they can work unassisted and always travel with a backup set of equipment. Also, there is a backup DJ on call in case an emergency were to arise. Major pro of a DJ: they are one third as expensive as a band (at least!)
Bands are so much fun though. And I love live music. So the question of the day is: As a wedding guest – which do you prefer? Band or DJ?

I would totally go with a band. It will be something different for your guest and it will leave your guest with something to chat about.
I love the idea of a having a band, but if there really is that much difference in the price then I would definitely have to go with the DJ. I just wouldn't be able to justify spending that much more for a band when a DJ would be able to provide the same services. I know it's not exactly the same because it's not live music, but you are going to be dancing and having such a good time that it's not going to make that much difference.In the end though, you really have to go with what you want because it is your special day not anyone elses.
I want a band (Love Canon to be exact – they are an 80's cover band from C-ville, VA and I heart them), and no I'm not engaged yet, but I have already thought about this. But we'll probably end up with a DJ.
Bands are fun but they do have their downside. They're louder and it's not the same hearing that song you love on the radio. I prefer a DJ myself. It's what we went with, and ours was wonderful and played everything we wanted so I don't regret that choice at all.
We went with DJ – they aren't what you typically picture from yesteryear…they have professional lighting, setups, etc. And you get to tailor your song list to what you want to hear and what you don't want to hear… and the price difference lets you take that extra money and spend it elsewhere like on an awesome photographer. 🙂

Band! At first my parents were skeptical BUT they made the wedding! Everyone had so much fun and the guys were great. We did have a playlist on an iPod during the band breaks so we could play some of our original favorites!
