Weekend recap: Misc. Monday style

Happy Monday ladies!

I hope your week is getting off to a wonderful start and that you all had a fabulous weekend. I have to say, I hate Mondays just a little bit. Especially since I’m spending my entire summer sitting in graduate classes. This Monday, I’m linking up with Carissa at lowercase letters to share some random tidbits of my weekend with my honey.

one: operation relocation

On a very happy note, I have just returned from a weekend with my sweetheart in New Jersey. On an even happier note (fingers crossed), I think this will be my last visit before we move into our apartment in Hoboken. I say “think” because finding a moving company to move all of my belongings seven hundred miles into an apartment on the seventh floor in a major city that cannot accommodate parking for a tractor trailer moving truck (the type generally used in long-distance moves) is proving to be very difficult. Oh – did I mention I really need them to do this on July 4th weekend??

two: plan A – sun and sand

I packed this super cute VS bikini that I ordered in January and have not worn yet.

Unfortunately, it literally rained the entire weekend. When rain wasn’t actually coming down, it was still dreary and overcast. We did not go to the beach or take the boat out as planned. And I did not get to break in this cute bikini.

three: plan B – movie marathon

I did have a fantastic time, however. Because the weather was bad, Corey and I spent a lot of time watching movies and snuggling. On Friday, we went a fabulous Italian restaurant (New Jersey and New York have the best Italian food, btw). I had the most delicious chicken, eggplant, mozzarella, and prosciutto dish. Then, we came home and rented No Strings Attached. I’ve been wanting to see this movie for a long time and haven’t gotten around to it. It was pretty funny but obviously predictable. I love a good chick flick though.

Saturday we had a brunch with Corey’s family and I caught his mom up on some of the wedding plans. We’re having an engagement party the end of July and Corey’s parents and grandmother and going to come down. They haven’t met my parents yet so this will be a great opportunity for that. Corey picked the movie for Saturday and he chose the HBO film Too Big to Fail about the 2008 investment bank financial crisis. Corey works in finance so obviously this was interesting to him but it was so well-made and suspenseful that I was on the edge of my seat as well. We had Italian again on Saturday at this cute family-owned place that we love and we drank two bottles of wine! So many restaurants in New Jersey are bring your own for drinks so it is possible to drink a lot of wine without it costing a lot of money!

Yesterday, we slept late and relaxed a little. Then after lunch we went to see Super 8. It is the new Stephen Spielberg film and it was pretty good. Almost a more intense and dramatic version of ET.

four: my flight home

My flight out on Friday was on time – if you can believe it. This is the first (or maybe second?) time this has happened since January. Yesterday’s flight boarded on time but we sat on the runway for awhile(ahh…Newark airport) then once we were in air the ride was very turbulent because of thunderstorms. We had to circle Charlotte several times before we could land. The power on the plane flickered at one point and a poor woman across the aisle from me got airsick. I sat next to a guy who was about my age and he currently lives in New Jersey – but his girlfriend lives in Charlotte. How neat was that?

five: Parisian gift

Corey brought me a present from his trip to Paris. Want to see what he got me?

A beautiful Burberry purse. It is such a great size for a dinner out and I love it. I can’t wait to carry this baby. He knows me well! 🙂

Corey also brought me a beautiful hand carved and painted flower from Brussels. I forgot to take a picture of it but it is beautiful. I can’t wait to decide on a decorative way to display it in our new apartment. How sweet is that? He brought me a flower from another country!
