Bridal Talk Tuesday – Engagement Party Recap

Life with Elizabeth

Happy Tuesday y’all! Today for Bridal Talk Tuesday I’m going to share a little recap of our engagement party a couple weeks ago.  First, I have to share a sweet little story. Corey leaves for work between six and six thirty and I’ve been sleeping in until seven thirty or eight recently. When I woke up this morning and opened the bedroom door he’d left a little note for me saying how much he loved me and how happy he was to spend the rest of his life with me. Its those kind of little sweet things that I love so much – a thoughtful gesture that shows he was thinking of me.

Anyways…on to the engagement party. The party was held in South Carolina in a venue very close to my home town. The weather was wonderful – very hot but clear skies and sunny (despite the forecast for rain).

Corey’s parents, sister, and grandmother flew down for the weekend. We went to dinner with them at Mac’s Barbecue in Charlotte on Friday night to introduce them to a southern meal (including pimento cheese and fried pickles).

My parents and Corey’s parents had never met so on Saturday my family took us all out to a cute restaurant in my hometown, Brandon House, for a delicious lunch. Our families got along so well! We followed lunch up with a peach milkshake from an infamous local orchard then separated to get ready for the party.

 Some of our favorite pictures

Simple centerpieces on the tables

Despite a little mishap on Friday where the petit fours were delivered melted due to the extreme heat, all the food ended up being delicious. Dragonfly cakes immediately replaced the petit fours while the caterer doing the rest of the desserts pulled an all-nighter to make some extra desserts in case the replacement petit fours did not arrive in time.

Some of the delicious dinner

Dessert spread (minus the cute pink cupcakes that hadn’t been put out yet)

We had around sixty guests to celebrate with us. Four of my five bridesmaids were present and it was so nice to spend time with them together. My 91 year old grandmother joined in on the festivities and two of my aunts and uncles were able to come into town as well as several cousins.

Bridesmaids (minus Bethany who lives in Chicago)

Corey was a big hit. My dad is the mayor of my hometown and there were lots of people who were very interested to meet this out of town (and out of state) boy I am marrying. Everyone loved him and thought he was adorable.

We were so busy socializing this is our only picture together
