Well hello there. And happy Monday.
It’s been awhile since I popped in to this space. If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been I’ve really just been doing a heck of a lot of this.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from being a mama to Madeline (who turned three during my little hiatus) it’s that babies don’t keep. So, I don’t have Connor on a perfect schedule. He doesn’t sleep through the night. I always rock him to sleep. And I am ok with it.
My hands and heart have been so full these last few weeks. Madeline dropped her nap. I do fear it’s for good this time, which has left me scratching my head for ideas for quiet time that don’t involve technology or her destroying my house so that I can get just a few minutes of quiet for my own sanity.
Connor turns twelve weeks old this week and I really don’t know how that happened. But all of a sudden I do feel a little less overwhelmed and like we might actually be settling in to this life with two littles thing.
When Madeline turned twelve weeks old I went back to work. It was the maximum time I was able to take off at my job for maternity leave and it felt like the worst thing ever. I left every morning before she woke up and made it home for the witching hour and bedtime. While it was so nice to see other adults again and I had missed my students, I cried almost every morning on my way to work.
Whilst pumping.
Hitting this milestone this time around and not having to return to work at a traditional job has me feeling all kind of grateful. I feel grateful to my husband for supporting my decision to leave my old job without a second thought. And then supporting us financially. Grateful for the days with my children that I haven’t missed and for the network of mama friends I’ve made to do this stage of life with.
I’m also really grateful that I found a passion that became a paycheck. December and February have been my two biggest months with Beautycounter and I could cry real tears over this. The women who support my business are just the best. It makes my heart so full to know that they are filling their homes with safer products but since my maternity leave as a teacher was unpaid, the significance of earning a paycheck during this time with Connor is not lost on me.
Now that he is twelve weeks old, I do intend to return to work/life as normal. Whatever that will mean with two children!
On an unrelated note, I had a play date with a friend recently and she informed me that I am really missing out because I do not have an Instapot. I am all about making meal time easier in this stage of life so tell me, should I purchase one? What are the best easy, healthy recipes that I will need to try?
The weather has been pretty miserable in Charlotte lately. It’s been cold and rainy for weeks. I don’t ever remember a winter this rainy. We have had a couple freak warm days mixed in so everything is blooming. When I look out the window, I’m really confused for what season it actually is. Haha! But we are so very ready for warm days. I know all the mamas who’ve been trapped inside with their kids are in agreement.
Happy Monday, friends! I hope your week starts off well!
so glad to see you appear in my feed today! Cannot believe its been 12 weeks already! that has flown by!
I’m with you: I went back to work when Walker was 12 weeks old and when Knox hit that three-month milestone, it was so sweet and I was so thankful I got to be home with him.
Hi, hello! It's nice to check in with you! It sounds like you've got your hands full. Things change so quickly, don't they? I really hope you can find a good rhythm! I imagine it's crazy. And I hope you get a sunny day soon! I hate when it rains like that. – Kristen http://www.kristenwoolsey.com
I'm obsessed with my Instant Pot! I bought it in July 2016. I've used it almost every week since. Any slow-cooker meal can be converted to an Instant Pot meal, just faster. I also like all the one-dish options. It's easy to saute some veggies or meat to get a nice flavor before turning to the pressure cooker or slow cooker function.
